how Was the King James Bible Made?

Soon after James became king of England, he met with church leaders at a palace in London called Hampton Court. During that January 1604 meeting, John Rainolds and other members of the clergy suggested that England needed a new translation of the Bible. King James agreed.

King James Bible

At the time, there were many different Bibles being used in England. The Bible was not originally written in English. The words had to be translated from Hebrew and Greek into English. People could not always agree on the best way to write these words in English.

A special group of men were chosen to be translators on the king’s project. Their job was to create an accurate translation that everyone could agree on. Seven years later in 1611, the King James Bible was published.
