making a Ruff

Try on a piece of history! Fabric collars known as ruffs were extremely popular in England in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Many portraits of the King James Bible translators show them wearing ruffs. This short video shows you how to make your own.

This video was filmed at the Capitol Hill Day School, Washington, DC.  Special thanks are due to the school’s students and faculty, including Jason Gray, head of school, and teachers Heidi Bachman, Molly Doyle, Beth Nalker, Laura Nakatani, and Adrienne Nelson.
